reaching out to queer asylum seekers with choices

may 15th, 2023
Together with Choices Support Center we’re reaching out to the Queer community in asylum centers who are struggling with depression, truama, PTSD, and substance use through organising film events.

Together Choices Support Center and Bloodrave are collaborating in 2023 with the goal of offering LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and status holders a chance to break the isolation and depression by experiencing a ‘queer integration’ through film. In addition, information and education is also offered to safely integrate into the queer community. this will happen during evenings hosted throughout the year in cinemas all over the country.

On those evenings we have a program of European queer cinema from fiction films to documentaries (short and feature-length) that show why and how this part of the world is so diverse. In addition to the films, we also have an interactive program on issues such as psychological care, drug use, consent in the gay scene and safe places within the queer scene to participate in, in order to encourage people to leave that isolation behind.

Aiming to launch our pilot during amsterdam pride 2023, we’re currently looking for partners to collaborate with. At the same time bloodrave and co-producer prpl are developing terror drama tina town, a story about a young guy getting dragged into a weekend fuelled with crystal meth. with funding of the dutch film fund in place, the first draft of the screenplay (written by roy seerden) is done.
