bloodrave develops feature neon cross with finnish production team

after several years of development, the psychosexual revenge thriller neon cross welcomes onerva pictures and grilli films.

originally written as a feature spec script by tim koomen in 2019, the project took a fresh turn last year when the helsinki based production company onerva pictures read it. a new collaboration was born, with director inka rusi now attached - partly as a co-writer to tim’s new version of the script.

tanja rusi, founder of onerva pictures, has taken the project under her wings as the main producer. Bloodrave is attached as a co-producer and we plan on pitching neon cross this year, with the overall goal of getting the shoot off the ground. other key members of the team are the finland based grilli films to cover production services and the band aves for developing the dreampop-like sound that carries throughout the film.

plot details are not announced yet, but the film does aim for a dystopian setting ‘in a society where the gender binary has been outlawed’. Following in the slipstream of other queer bloodrave-projects like binary and tina town, we’re setting out to develop more elevated genre films (horror, sci fi, thriller) with diverse subject matters that aim to entertain, disturb and disrupt.

earlier work of onerva pictures include the documentary brainwashed: sex-camera-power, which was selected at film festivals like berlin, sundance and was shortlisted for the best documentary category at the oscars 2023.
