binary selected for iffr 2024

Bloodrave’s next movie is selected for international film festival rotterdam and premieres on tv end of february. it’s part of the anthology series ‘koolhoven presenteert’.

It’s finally time to bring our vision to the big screen and the last two years have been a rollercoaster, creating the mid-length together with production company prpl. With a crazy talented crew and cast - especially first time lead actress inaya - we’ve created a movie that reflects our vision as a horror label. We’re super thankful to martin koolhoven, els vandevorst and everyone at VPRO, NPO and the film fund for supporting binary and giving us the freedom to create this bloody body horror.

”EErie and bloody horror, unsuitable for sensitive souls? For some film enthusiasts, it's the cream of the mutated-to-Jaws crop. Binary revolves around Nisha, a Pakistani transgender woman who has come to the Netherlands to complete her transition. She earns her living with erotic performances in dark places and has a lot on her plate: parents she needs to financially support, a brother who constantly calls because he's worried about her safety, loose ends that need tying up. And then there's an inner demon that haunts her everywhere. Up to and including a bachelorette party in an abandoned clubhouse, where it turns out that demons - besides being frightening - can be quite real”
